An hours-long manhunt for a California mom accused of murdering her three small children ended Saturday afternoon with her arrest, police said.
The bodies of the victims – aged 6-month-old, 2-year-old, and 3-year-old – were discovered by their horrified grandmother who came home from work.
The slaughtered kids’ mother, 30-year-old Liliana Carrilo, was nowhere to be found until her abandoned vehicle was later located in the Bakersfield area.
Authorities said that Carrilo carjacked a silver Toyota pickup truck before being ultimately arrested around 200 miles north of her Reseda home.
“She did a horrific crime here,” LAPD Lieutenant Ben Fernandes said, “and then followed it up by another crime north of here. And it’s those behaviors that ultimately got her caught.”
Police are investigating the incident to determine a motive. Reports said that the kids were fatally stabbed but an official cause of death is pending.
