NYPD increasing reward to find mom of newborn twins, beaten to death and tossed behind Bronx building

New York City news, New York news.

Five months after they discovered lifeless bodies of newborn identical twin boys, NYPD investigators continue searching for their mom, increasing the reward offered in the case.

The babies were beaten to death, an autopsy revealed before they were left behind a Bronx apartment building on Nov. 9, 2020. They had been found less than 12 hours after they were killed.

The case left authorities and residents at the College Avenue building extremely upset. Detectives said that everyone tried their best to track down the murderer.

“People gave us their fingerprints, gave us their DNA, so I think it’s kind of shocking that anybody would have two full-term babies thrown in the garbage in neighborhood,” Lt. William O’Toole said.

O’Toole added that they contacted hospitals across NYC, Westchester County, and New Jersey looking for a suspect who may have sought medical help after delivery.

“Someone who is physically pregnant with twins should really show. We spoke to the people in the shelter and most of the residents in the shelter were in shock as much as everybody was.”

“I think there were four females that were pregnant at the time in the shelter. All of them were still pregnant after the babies were found.”

Residents of the building’s 42 apartments were questioned as well as those of nearby homes. Surveillance footage of the scene did not reveal much.

“Everybody is upset about this,” resident Ramon Sanchez said.

“Nobody wants to talk about it. Everyone is scared, I feel bad. It’s not supposed to happen, something like that.”
