Boulder news, Colorado news.

The Boulder Police Officer who was gunned down Monday afternoon during a mass shooting was a father-of-7 who loved his family and job.

Officer Eric Talley was among the ten victims of the Boulder mass shooting that unfolded at a King Soopers store.

“He was, by all accounts, one of the outstanding officers at the Boulder Police Department, and his life was cut far too short,” Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said.

Talley was shot dead upon arriving at the scene. Since he joined the police department, the 51-year-old had served in “numerous roles.”

“He took his job as a police officer very seriously,” Talley’s grieving dad Homer Talley said. “He loved his kids and his family more than anything.”

He added that Eric joined police aged 40 and all he wanted was “a job to keep himself off of the front lines.”

“He didn’t want to put his family through something like this and he believed in Jesus Christ.”
