An Illinois toddler who just turned one-year-old earlier this month had been mauled to death by the family dog she considered “her best friend.”
A’myrikal Hull died late Thursday at HSHS St. John’s Hospital after the dog bit her head when she approached his food bowl.

“Pocket bully” as the family called the pit bull terrier and Patterdale terrier mix was held back by the toddler’s two uncles who happened to be nearby.
“The dog never snapped before,” a relative said. “I was in shock since 1:30 this morning. The fact she didn’t make it crushed my soul.”
“The dog was like her best friend. A’myrikal was a very happy baby. She just had these big beautiful eyes and a smile that would light up the room.”
