Manitowoc news, Wisconsin news.

Hundreds of students in Wisconsin have been cited for missing their virtual school classes and parents are furious knowing that the children’s absenteeism is mainly caused by technological issues.

Tracie Higgins testified that shortly before Thanksgiving, a police officer knocked at the door and find her son Mark $439 for missing his remote classes.

  • Higgins said that there was “no way” she can pay the fine and that school officials had attempted to reach a deal with her.

“Ya, they are giving the kids an incentive that, ‘OK, if you do nine weeks of school and pass all of your classes the fine goes away,’ but that’s not the point. The point is they shouldn’t have to give these fines out to these kids – especially now.”

Higgins, like many other parents, blamed her son’s class for skipping on an unfunctional Chrome book and his Covid-19 infection.
