Pennsylvania elementary school student stabs 2 classmates in playground

Authorities in Pennsylvania had to take an elementary school student into custody after he repeatedly stabbed two classmates in the school playground.

The incident occurred at around 5:20 p.m. Monday at the Oak Park Elementary School in Hatfield Township, the local police department said.

Officers responded to the playground at the back of the school where two students layed with several stab wounds. They were rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

  • “The male subject responsible for this attack has been taken into custody by the Hatfield Township Police Department and is no longer a threat to the community,” police added.

    On Monday evening, the North Penn School District released a statement insisting that the stabbing had unfolded after classes while no other students were present and that it had nothing to do with school activities.

    “We are still learning details as it is an ongoing police investigation and we do not have more information to share except that the suspect is in custody.”

    “Tragic events such these are always upsetting. I want to assure you that the safety of the Oak Park Community is our number one priority.”
