Jacksonville woman in electric wheelchair robs bank blocks away from police station

Jacksonville Police said that a woman in an electric wheelchair has been busted after robbing a downtown bank and threatening to kill everyone inside Monday.

The unidentified suspect, described as a 39-year-old Black woman, entered the Regions Bank branch on Bay Street and claimed she wanted to discuss her account.

  • But soon later, she got involved in an argument with the employee and began shouting threats at people, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

    Employees gave the woman some cash and she left the place which is located blocks away from police headquarters.

    Officers arrested her shortly following the incident. Witnesses said the suspect who was wearing a black and silver face mask never produced a weapon.
