San Francisco news, California news.

California authorities said that they are not suspecting foul play in the death of a San Francisco computer programmer who vanished after getting into his apartment and never showed up again.

Christopher Woitel, 50, was found dead inside his Mission District apartment in a three-foot-tall crawl space just above his bathroom.

  • Police had conducted several searches into the apartment since Jan. 13 when his mom reported him missing but never found the remains that were “hidden from plain view.”

Relatives described how Woitel became paranoid about the Capitol riot fearing the mob would attack San Francisco and telling them he was going to hide in mountains.

Woitel was an extremely generous man, according to many witnesses, who would help the homeless with food and shower.
