Santa Monica news, California news.

Dr. Laura Berman, an OWN TV host, announced the tragic death of her 16-year-old son Samuel last Sunday and warned parents of Snapchat, blaming the platform for her son’s drug overdose.

The 52-year-old said that Samuel thought he only bought Xanax and was not suicidal when he purchased the Percoset pills on Snapchat.

He had just asked his dad for a cheeseburger and went back to his room where he overdosed less than an hour later.

“He got the drugs delivered to the house. Please watch your kids and WATCH SNAPCHAT especially. That’s how they get them,” the distraught mom said.

“Snapchat has pledged help publicly and said nothing to us. They just are doing it in a press release. The most they’re willing to do is bring down a profile,” Berman added.

A spokesperson for Snapchat had told reporters that they have a “zero-tolerance” policy when it comes to drug-dealing via the app.

“Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of Samuel Berman Chapman and we are heartbroken by his passing. We are committed to working together with law enforcement in this case and in all instances where Snapchat is used for illegal purposes.”
