New York news, US news.

Winter storm Orlena is on the way to New York where it is expected to dump up to 10 inches of snow across the five boroughs by Tuesday.

The freezing forecast prompted Mayor Bill de Blasio to suspend in-person classes, vaccinations, and alternate side parking.

“Fourteen to sixteen inches would be bad enough. It could be a lot more than that,” de Blasio said.

The coronavirus vaccinations appointments will be rescheduled for another time. The classes will be remote for Monday.

Winter storm alerts had been issued across 20 states since the storms emerged in California earlier this week, dumping 15 inches of rain and nearly 100 inches of snow all over the state.
