German health officials have issued a recommendation claiming that the AstraZeneca vaccine isn’t efficient for people over 65 years old due to lack of data.

The Standing Vaccine Commission ruled that the Covid-vaccine should be administered to people from 18 to 64.

“There is currently insufficient data to assess the efficacy of the vaccine for persons aged 65 years and older,” health experts said.

But the UK developing company said the information was “completely incorrect.”

“At first glance, it appears that two things have been confused in the reports: About 8% of the subjects in the AstraZeneca efficacy study were between 56 and 69 years of age, and only 3 to 4% were over 70 years of age. However, this does not infer an efficacy of only 8% in the elderly.”
