According to two GOP members, at least 140 Republicans are projecting to block President-elect Joe Biden’s victory’s certification when the Congress votes to validate the Electoral College results on January 6.

Speaking to CNN, the sources said that the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is not among the GOP members who plan to back Trump’s bid to contest the Electoral College Votes.

McConnell reportedly said that the January 6 cast is the “most consequential” in his 36 years in the Senate.

The news outlet revealed that more than 12 GOP House members have publicly said they were planning to vote against Biden’s certification.

Not all Republicans, however, have the same plans; Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse said on Facebook that his fellow GOP senators are “playing with fire.”

“If you make big claims, you had better have the evidence. But the president doesn’t and neither do the institutional arsonist members of Congress who will object to the Electoral College vote.”
