Utah star running back & PAC-12 Offensive Freshman accidentally shoots himself dead

Grim news emerged Saturday morning about the passing of a Utah College freshman and football running back in what is believed to be an accidental shooting.

Ty Jordan, the PAC-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year was home in Denton, Texas for the holidays when he accidentally shot himself and died from the fatal injury.

Coming from West Mesquite High School, Texas, Jordan was recruited as a four-star in the Utah College Football team where he rushed for 597 yards and six touchdowns in five games. He also caught 11 passes for 126 yards.

  • His achievements led Pro Football Focus to grade him as the top running back in the Pac-12. The team mourned him on Twitter: “Rest In Peace, #22. Forever in our hearts. We love you, Ty.”

    The late player’s teammates also took to Twitter to express their shock and sadness over Jordan’s sudden death.

    “Rest In Peace Ty. Can’t believe you’re gone. Grateful our lives crossed paths. You will forever be missed,” quarterback Jake Bentley tweeted.
