Two teenage girls have passed away during a sleepover party late last month after a house fire at a Fredericksburg home.
And although autopsy results ruled their cause of death as smoke inhalation, the 15 and 16-year-olds’ parents aren’t buying that scenario.
“There is no way it was because of the smoke, because she, she knew what to do, even if she broke an arm or leg she would’ve jumped out the window or find a way to get out,” one of the victims’ mom said.
Fredericksburg investigators are seeking the public’s help to determine if someone was with the girls the night of the incident.
“As with all deaths, they are treated as a homicide until proven otherwise,” Police Chief Steven Wetz said.
“We are putting together a timeline of the evening by interviewing a multitude of witnesses so that we can cover all aspects of the case.”
