Body of South Carolina woman found on train tracks after suspects killed her, buried her in backyard

The remains of a South Carolina woman were discovered on train tracks and authorities believe she has been buried for some time then exhumed by the suspects.

Jennifer Grant, 36, vanished on Nov. 20 shortly after her college graduation. An autopsy determined that she was stabbed to death days later and ruled her death a homicide.

North Charleston Police officers busted an area couple after 45-year-old Antolene Smith confessed to the crime.

  • The woman said that amid a fight with the victim, her husband Curtis Smith, 65-year-old, grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Grant.

    She added that they buried the body in their backyard but later unearthed it and discarded it on the abandoned tracks, across the street from their home.

    Grant’s grieving mom said that she was planning to start work at the VA Hospital: “I would just like to know if she had any last words or did she suffer? Did she call for her mom?”

    Smith was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. His wife is facing a charge of being an accessory after the fact.
