West Chester news, Pennsylvania news.

A Pennsylvania couple stands accused of causing severe brain damage to a child who currently fights for her life, on a ventilator, at a local hospital.

Julianne Lewis, 31, allowed her new boyfriend Dimitrios Moscharis to torture her 9-year-old daughter and beat her with whatever he found including clothes hangers, plastic rods, and his hands.

Lewis met Moscharis only two months ago and still trusted him to care for her only daughter as she worked as a Lyft driver.

But on Monday, the 34-year-old called her to say that the girl was not breathing after he disciplined her and that she should return quickly.

Doctors discovered the extent of the girl’s injuries covering her entire body and reaching her lungs and brain that were damaged as a result of prolonged oxygen lack.

“It is incomprehensible that a mother would not only engage in this horrific treatment of her child but also fail to intervene to protect her from abuse from a man she just met,” District Attorney Deb Ryan said.

“She participated in a systemic abuse pattern that violated her duty of care and subjected her daughter to unimaginable acts of cruelty.”
