Marion police are investigating a tragic murder-suicide incident that claimed the lives of three innocent children and a woman on Friday.
When Smyth County Sheriff’s officers responded to the southwest Virginia home, they found the 27-year-old woman’s dead body along with two dead children.
The victims were 10 and 3-year-old. Their sibling, a 6-year-old, was agonizing at the scene and died shortly after being hospitalized.

An 8-year-old child “escaped the scene,” authorities said though it was unclear if they sustained injuries.
Preliminary investigation shows that the woman perpetrated the murder-suicide incident and that no other suspects are involved in the incident.
The woman’s relationship with the children remains unclear.
