A 32-year-old father has killed himself, his ex-wife and mom-in-law, shortly after a judge granted her divorce and custody of their two children.
Daniel Dewitt committed a revenge murder-suicide that claimed the lives of Amanda, 31, and her mom, Debra Allen, 61, two days after the couple’s divorce.
The father-of-two then opened fire on himself at the same residence where his two children, ages 9 and 2, were.
The tragedy occurred Wednesday in a Little Rock, Arkansas home. A couple of days earlier, Amanda and Daniel were declared officially divorced.
“She can be heard screaming on the phone and the male subject can also be heard screaming,” Lt. Robert Garrett said of the victim’s disturbance call.
“By the time our units arrived, they found two persons deceased outside then once they went inside, they also found the woman’s mother also deceased.”
According to court records, Daniel had filed for divorce last April, and since, Amanda filed an order of protection against him citing “26 incidents of harassment, failure to exchange possession of the children, taking children from her possession without her knowledge and attempted break-in.”
