Idaho authorities are investigating a murder-suicide incident after a mayoral candidate was shot dead along with a coffee shop manager last week.
28-year-old Jared Murphy, a cop who was working for the Hailey town area, and Ashley Midby, 34, were found lifeless near the coffee Ashley was running.
“This world lost a beautiful ray of sunshine. May her bright smile, her cheerful spirit, her tender loving heart live on,” Ashley’s grieving mother expressed.
The nature of the relationship between the victims was not determined. But police said Midby was from a well-known family in the neighborhood and that she had previous knowledge of Murphy who was looking to be the future Bellevue mayor.
Following Midby’s killing, her friend, Jennifer Franklin, created a GoFundMe page to financially support the coffee shop workers.
“I am fundraising for the family to help cover unexpected expenses; such as loss of income for employees,” Jennifer said.
“The money raised will be used to support this family and the business (employees) Ashley loved.”
