Married Texas prosecutors shot at their El Paso home in targeted incident that left one dead

Two Texas Attorney General Prosecutors have been targeted in a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one of them and left the other critically injured.

50-year-old Georgette Garcia-Kaufmann succumbed to her injuries while her 47-year-old husband Daniel Kaufmann remains hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting at their Manhattan Heights home.

It occurred on Saturday at around 7 p.m. while the couple’s 16-year-old son was away at a Dallas tournament. An unidentified gunman opened fire at their residence on the 3000 block of Copper Avenue near Memorial Park.

    “There is no indication at present time that any other person was the intended victim of this crime,” Sgt. Enrique Carrillo said.

    The couple has worked with the Texas Attorney General’s Office since 2010.
