A 32-year-old Indiana dad has fatally stabbed his son, 10, several times in the head during a heated argument with his mother last Thursday.
Kayden Sendelbach was transported to the Riley Hospital for Children after sustaining life-threatening injuries.
His father, William Sendelbach, attacked him with a knife at their Wabash house amid a physical dispute with his wife. The boy succumbed to his injuries two days later.
“The purported stabbing has now turned into a murder investigation as Kayden died Saturday at 6:28 a.m. An autopsy is pending,” police said.
After exiting the home, William opened fire at a garbage truck but its driver was not injured.
He then discharged his firearm at Sgt. Nick Brubaker striking him at least once in the leg.
The suspect was apprehended a few hours later after exchanging fire with cops: “William Sendelbach was hit by multiple bullets when Wabash police officers returned fire because he was allegedly shooting a shotgun at them.”
“It’s a tragic situation. It kind of boggles your mind why someone would allegedly stab a ten-year-old and then would want to shoot at police officers,” Public Information Officer Sgt. Tony Slocum told reporters.
