San Antonio news, Texas news.

A 13-year-old Texas boy is facing criminal charges for fatally shooting his girlfriend’s brother while he was sleeping early Wednesday.

The shooting unfolded at around 7 a.m. when the unidentified teen entered the bedroom of his girlfriend’s sleeping brother, Rene Ray Rodriguez, and opened fire at him several times.

The 20-year-old victim got out of the bed in an attempt to escape before laying unconscious on the floor. By then, the suspect had managed to escape.

Rodriguez’s mom ran to his bedroom and found him bleeding from four gunshots wounds.

“He didn’t deserve this,” she told reporters. “My son had no enemies. My son was a great kid.”

The grieving mother described the shooter as a “bad” person: “We’ve been trying to keep her away from [him],” she said.

Two juveniles were named persons of interest in Rodriguez’s murder. They have not been identified due to their age.
