Carrollton news, Texas news.

Earlier this month, a 33-year-old Texas man has turned himself to Carrollton police and admitted to murdering the mother of his toddler daughter once she has shown up at her job amid a raging custody battle.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Andrew Charles Beard over the fatal stabbing and shooting of Alyssa Burkett, 24, who was pronounced dead last Friday morning at her workplace. A couple of days later, he surrendered to authorities.

Last month, the victim had created a GoFundMe page so she could pay for her attorney and court charges.

“If you know me, you know how my life has been for the past year. Anyone who knows me knows I am a wonderful mother and try my best to be the best I can for my daughter. Since she has been born, her father has taken me to court several times in an attempt to take her away for me,” the page read.

“At the beginning of August, he took it upon himself to keep her from me, he would not open the door per the court order and I went over a week without seeing my 1-year-old baby girl when I am her primary parent.”

Beard was transported to Carrollton City Jail without bond. It was not confirmed if he named a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
