Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden spoke at an NBC town hall in Miami yesterday, sharing his disappointment over President Trump’s defying remarks after enduring the hardships of coronavirus.
“I would hope the president, having gone through what he went through- and I’m glad he seems to be coming along pretty well- would communicate the right lesson to the American people: Masks matter.”
Biden added that he doesn’t approve Trump’s tweets urging people not to let COVID dominate their lives. The former vice-president said that he would mandate face masks and social distance to stop the spread of the pandemic if elected.
“These masks, they matter. It matters. It saves lives. It prevents the spread of disease. There’s a lot to be concerned about. 210,000 people have died. I hope no one walks away with the message thinking that it’s not a problem. It’s a serious problem. It’s an international pandemic and we have 4 percent of the population and 20 percent of the deaths.”
The Democratic candidate asserted that he was not worried after hearing about Trump’s infection because he knew that even if they shared the stage for an extended time, he was safe by keeping “the social distancing and never getting close to Trump.
