Lake Tahoe news, California news.

A New Jersey man who was last seen alive on August 10 while on a trip to Lake Tahoe, California has finally been found dead more than 1,500 feet deep in the same lake.

29-year-old Ryan Normoyle made a fatal mistake when he left his rented boat “in gear” before jumping into the waters. The man played and had fun swimming in the deep waters, but when he got tired, the boat was far away.

Since it was accidentally left in gear, the boat continued to accelerate forward as Normoyle swam, authorities said.

“The cellphone video basically shows him jumping off the boat. It looks like he was playing around in the water and didn’t know the boat was in gear and he wasn’t able to make it back to the boat,” Lt. Travis Cabral said.

The Closter resident tried hard to catch up with the boat before being gained by the rough waters. His remains were recovered over the last weekend 1,565 feet deep in Lake Tahoe, nearly at the same spot, the GPS in his cellphone was tracked.

The unfortunate Normoyle was a gifted woodworker. His recovery mission is the deepest underwater that has ever been conducted in the US and Canada.
