A 30-year-old man who has stabbed his mom to death for more than 70 times earlier this month has entered a not-guilty plea in the horrific crime.
According to local news outlets, Joshua Matthew Carr’s plea unfolded in Sevier County General Sessions Court on Sept. 18.
He is facing numerous charges including first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 56-year-old mother, Pamela Renee Carr. The suspect’s grandmother was also injured in the attack.
He was apprehended in Michigan within 48 hours and was booked into a Tennessee Detention Facility where he remains.
The judge is asked by prosecutor Ron Newcomb to hold the defendant without bail due to the brutality of the slaying.
His arrest warrant revealed that Pamela was found dead in her bed with serious stab wounds covering her entire body. He has also attacked his grandmother, cut her left middle finger, and left forearm without mercy.
