Erwin news, North Carolina news.

A family trip turned into a tragedy when a toddler accidentally shot their grandmother with a gun he found inside the RV on Sunday afternoon.

The toddler, believed to be 4-year-old, located the firearm, and was playing with it when the grandmother tried to take it away from him.

The pair was waiting for other family members that went inside a grocery store at Carlie C’s IGA in Erwin, North Carolina.

The elderly woman was struck once in the abdomen and was rushed to a local hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Last July, a similar incident claimed the life of a 64-year-old woman in Illinois when a 4-year-old child accidentally shot her in the back through her car seat.
