Fort Hood soldier collapses dead during training session

Army officials announced Friday that a 25-year-old Fort Hood soldier has passed away after he collapsed unconscious during a training session on Aug. 28.

Pvt. Corlton L. Chee died after all efforts to revive him failed at the Carl. R Darnall Hospital where he was immediately transferred. Officials confirmed that his relatives have been notified and that they were present when he died. The cause of death remains unclear.

“Every loss affects every single person in this Battalion because we are a family of warriors, but this is exceptionally heartbreaking,” Lt. Col. Ron Sprang said following the incident.

Chee was assigned to the 2nd Battalion last July. The New Mexico native is the 28th soldier to die at the Fort Hood Military Base this year.
