Miami Shores news, Florida news.

The wife of a Florida police vet had a tragic end when she got trapped inside a scorching patrol car that was left unlocked in the family driveway Friday.

Clara Paulino, 56, tried hard to find a getaway and left her fingerprints all over the backseat where she later died: “Clearly, she was panicked and trying to get out,” police said.

The woman is the wife of a 38-year police veteran who served a night-shift and returned home to sleep. She reportedly climbed into the Ford Explorer to retrieve something when the door closed and couldn’t be opened from inside.

“It’s literally a cage,” police said adding that the cruiser had a safety partition between the front and back seat that prevented the victim from honking the horn.

Paulino’s body was discovered by her husband and son at 5:30 p.m., nearly five-hours after she got trapped. Temperatures reached the 90s that afternoon.
