Spokane news, Washington news.

Spokane Police have arrested a father of two children who gunned down their mom when she came to pick them up following a visit on Aug. 8.

Mary Schaffer was shot in her left eye at around 12:30 p.m. behind her wheel with her purse over her shoulder suggesting she was about to leave the car. Across the street was located her ex-husband’s home.

A neighbor described hearing the shooting and spotting Nathan Beale running toward his residence. The 35-year-old father denied being involved in the murder claiming that he was waiting for Schaffer to come to pick up the children.

Beale kept evading questioning but authorities discovered a 9mm gun similar to the one used in the crime inside a backpack he left at home. He was charged with first-degree murder and domestic violence.
