Wilson news, North Carolina news.

A gruesome murder has terrorized the Wilson community after a 5-year-old boy was shot at point-blank range in the head by his 25-year-old next-door neighbor while he played with his sisters in their front yard.

A resident who witnessed the shocking crime Monday at around 5:33 p.m. said that she couldn’t believe that her neighbor Darius Nathaniel Sessoms had just walked up to Cannon Hinnant who was playing with his older sisters in front of their home, pointed a gun at his head and fired. Sessoms then ran back to his own home.

“My first reaction was he’s playing with the kids. People don’t run across the street and kill kids,” she said.

The suspect had dined with Cannon’s father the night before the murder. He lived next to the Hinnants for years: “We used to play together and I never thought he’d kill someone,” a relative said.
