Randolph County news, Alabama news.

Alabama authorities received a call from a woman who reported that her son’s friend had asked him to help in concealing the body of someone he killed.

Randolph County Police officers rushed to the suspect’s house late Wednesday after the disturbing call. They failed to locate a victim inside the residence but have arrested a man who gave them a false identity.

The suspect, later identified as Kenneth Alan Van Dusen, was reportedly released from a Colorado jail amid coronavirus fears. Authorities conducted a search in the area and found the deceased body of his mother-in-law, 51-year-old Stephanie Sikes. She appeared to have been shot multiple times.

“We held him for a while and then about that time, coronavirus hit and Colorado said they wouldn’t get him because of that, so we had to release him,” Sheriff David Cofield said.

Van Dusen was charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
