Windermere news, Florida news.

A Florida boy has survived a fatal burglary that cost the lives of his grandfather and uncle and left his grandmother in critical condition when an intruder broke into their Windermere residence and attacked the occupants with a baseball bat.

It occurred on Thursday at around 11 p.m. when the boy managed to call 911 and report the incident. Police rushed to the scene where they found the three victims, John, Lisa and James Savey seriously hit by Ezekiel Emanuel Hopkins. The suspect locked himself inside another bathroom at the residence and was found lifeless after he drank bleach.

“It’s a horrific situation,” Chief David Ogden said. “Our hearts go out to this family.”

Hopkins was charged with first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery.
