California news.

A long-time postal worker and army veteran was fatally hit by lightning over the last weekend in front of one of his three children as they rode jet skis in Stampeded Reservoir, California.

47-year-old Eugene Arao and his unidentified son were thrown off their jet skis into the waters when the lightning hit them last Saturday. The boy managed to swim to the shore before losing consciousness. Arao was trapped under a nearby boat and remained unaccounted for until his lifeless body was located nearly 20 yards away.

“What a horrific tragedy,” a witness said. “Remember tomorrow is not promised.”

The son sustained severe burns and was rushed to a local hospital. Arao is survived by his wife and three children.
