A Nevada homeless man has been pronounced dead at the scene of a fountain pool where he jumped to swim on the morning of Friday.
The victim, who has not been identified, is believed to be in his 40s. He was reportedly talking to visitors at the Bellagio resort before he began swimming in the unauthorized fountain pool.
When the victim appeared to struggle, a bystander tried to help him but returned to safety when he couldn’t go forward in the 13-foot deep pool. Divers were sent to the scene to recover the body.
Las Vegas authorities said that swimming at the Bellagio pool isn’t allowed as its depth goes from 8 feet to 13 feet in the center. The victim’s identity wasn’t disclosed pending family notification.
