Memphis news, Tennessee news.

A sports debate between two Memphis relatives was about to turn deadly when one of them punched the other and shot him because he didn’t share his point over coach Penny Hardaway’s skills.

Tyrone Taylor was charged with second-degree attempted murder and two counts of gun possession in connection with the July 3 argument. Taylor and his cousin were discussing Penny Hardaway’s competence as a coach when he got furious and punched the victim.

When the fight escalated, Taylor pointed a gun at his cousin, shooting him in the chest and nearly killing him.

Hardaway was a Memphis player before his injury forced him to change the career and become the coach of the Tigers leading them to accomplish a 43-24 record in a couple of years.
