Days after finding of deceased missing hiker in Mount Rainier, skeletal remains discovered nearby

Authorities are working to identify the skeletal remains discovered near the site where the body of missing hiker Matthew Bunker was located earlier this month.

Bunker and two other skiers identified as Vincent Djie and Talan Sabbagh were last seen hiking at Mount Rainier before vanishing within days in the same week between June 19 and June 26. The three men were Seattle residents and are likely unknown to each other.

Searchers discovered skeletal remains in the dangerous area were the trio disappeared. As for now, the only information available is that the remains were a shattered skull and bones with clothing and a rifle next to them.

“It is very steep, terminates in cliffs, and is known for frequent avalanches and active rockfall,” authorities said about the scene.
