Kansas City news, Missouri news.

Missouri Police are searching for the suspect accused of fatally shooting a toddler while he slept at his home on Monday.

4-year-old Legend M. Taliferro was shot once in the face when several shots pierced through his home at around 2:30 a.m. He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away.

The boy had survived open-heart surgery when still an infant. He and his family were sleeping when the shooting occurred: “This is a nightmare for any parent and I can’t imagine the pain with which they’re dealing this morning,” Mayor Quinton Lucas said. “The boy was asleep. Malicious shooting with no regard for others claims another innocent life in our city.”

An investigation has been launched into the fatal shooting that is believed to be targeting the boy’s family.
