Los Angeles news, California news.

A Los Angeles family is mourning the death of their patriarch who succumbed to the deadly coronavirus the night before Father’s Day as twenty-eight other relatives battle the same disease.

Richard Garay, the decedent’s son, is also dealing with the viral illness that infected him late last month with mild symptoms before rapidly worsening: “It went from one day being OK to I can’t breathe, I can’t get up, I cannot eat,” said Garay who remembers waking up one June morning, suffocating:

“I’m like, ‘Dad, I don’t think I’m going to make it. That was the last thing I told my father, and the last thing my dad saw was his son suffocating.”

Garay recovered after being hospitalized. He doesn’t know exactly how all his family members got sick but he suspects a caretaker who visits his mother.
