Northern Virginia Police announced that an 11-month-old girl had passed away in a car where she has been inadvertently left for a while by her busy father.
It occurred on Friday afternoon when the toddler was found unresponsive by responding officers. She was stripped to her car-seat as temperatures climbed into the 90s, the Fairfax County Police Department said.
The father said that he inadvertently left the victim there while using another vehicle to run errands. When he returned to the car where he left the girl, he drove to daycare to retrieve another child before ultimately discovering the deceased tot in the backseat.
The victim and her father weren’t immediately identified. An investigation was launched into the incident.
