Monkeys attack lab worker, steal coronavirus infected blood samples

India news, World news.

A monkey attack in India isn’t something unusual; but what’s unusual is what they stole: a box containing COVID-19 infected blood samples from a lab worker walking in a Delhi medical college.

The troop of primates stormed the man while carrying blood samples from positively tested coronavirus patients in Meerut, according to local news outlets: “Monkeys grabbed and fled with the blood samples of four COVID-19 patients who are undergoing treatment,” the college top official said. “We had to take their blood samples again.”

The mammals fled to a nearby tree and started biting the container. Neighbors grew worried the virus would spread if the monkeys came to spill the blood samples: “No evidence has been found that monkeys can contract the infection,” the source said.
