Rock Hill police said that a welfare check on a 4-year-old girl with special needs lead them to find her lifeless body in a dresser where she may have been for a while.
The body of India Martin was discovered on May 26 with apparent signs of abuse. Her mother, Jackleen Elizabeth Mullen, 23, initially told police that the toddler wasn’t home before they made the heartbreaking discovery.
Mullen showed “no emotion” as she was being investigated with her boyfriend, Audrevious Jarrell Williams, 26. The pair was charged with homicide by child abuse or neglect. They had been forbidden from approaching their other children.
In 2017, Mullen was found guilty of child neglect after delivering a child with heroin in their system.
