A Virginia World War II veteran has been released from hospital after spending 58 days battling the deadly bug that unfortunately claimed his wife of 74 years’ life.

Lloyd Falk was admitted to the Henrico Doctors Hospital on March 24 after contracting coronavirus and doctors weren’t very optimistic about his future, and especially after the illness claimed the life of his life-time wife.

Falk “continued to stay strong, defying the odds and surviving his fight.” He left the hospital as a hero after putting on his veteran’s cap with staff clapping.

“I really thought so many times he was gone, I really did, and he just popped back up,” Falk’s daughter said, in tears. “It’s amazing that he survived.”
