North Carolina news.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, the highest number of new confirmed cases in North Carolina has been recorded yesterday, just as the state prepares for the second phase of reopening.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services announced that on Saturday alone, 1,017 new confirmed cases have been reported, raising the total of confirmed cases to 22,725.

“This is a notable and concerning increase. As we head into a holiday weekend, please practice the three Ws- wear a face mask, wait six feet apart, and wash your hands frequently,” Dr. Mandy Cohen said.

The new record comes as the state enters the second of three phases it approached to reopen the local economy.
