Houston news, Texas news.

A Texas church had just reopened at the beginning of this month and is now closing its doors after one of the priests died of coronavirus and five others tested positive for it.

79-year-old Father Donnell Kirchner succumbed to the novel virus last Wednesday after being prescribed medication for pneumonia and other symptoms. The priest shared his Holy Ghost parish residence with seven other members of the order; five of them contracted the virus.

“If you have attended Masses in person at Holy Ghost Church since the reopening on May 2nd, you are strongly encouraged to monitor your health for any symptoms and be tested for COVID-19, as a precautionary measure,” the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston said.
