Gary news, Indiana news.

While they sat in the back of a car outside a gas station on Saturday night, Darius and Demetrius Townsel, 12, were targeted by a random shooting that left Demetrius with a fatal injury to the head.

Darius held his bleeding twin brother for two miles to Methodist Hospital while trying to save his life, putting his hand on the wound to stop the bleeding. Despite his efforts, Demetrius died at 9:36 p.m. from his injuries.

Now, the devastated family is asking the shooter to step forward and offer them some closure: “I can’t hold my baby anymore, please turn yourself in,” the grieving mom pleaded. “I go home empty. I miss his laugh. I miss him.”

Officials are offering a $2,000 reward to anyone with information.
