Surrey news, UK news.

Police officers have pulled over a car that was traveling at 130 mph on a motorway in Surrey on Tuesday, but the driver’s motive was unusual: To avoid catching the virus.

The suspect who has not been identified was stopped on the M25: “His reply to why he was speeding was ‘I thought the faster I went the less chance I would catch coronavirus,” police said.

The incident is not the first of its kind in the UK where speeding arrests became frequent as a result of the emptiness of roads during the lockdown. Last month, a man traveled at 220 mph after purchasing some windows and put his wife in the trunk because there was no space for her in the vehicle. He was given a traffic offense report for his conduct.
