Brighton news, Colorado news.

Colorado authorities have apologized to a father who had been handcuffed in front of his wife and 6-year-old daughter because they violated the stay-at-home orders and went to play T-ball in a nearby park.

33-year-old Matt Mooney was with his wife and daughter in an empty park last Sunday when officers arrived and told them to leave the park: “We’re just having a good time, not near anybody else. The next closest person is at least 15 feet away from me and my daughter at this point,” Mooney said.

The officers insisted to have his identification and when he refused they handcuffed him before his family’s eyes and placed him in a patrol car for a while. He was then released without a citation: “It is evident that there was an overreach by our police officers,” Brighton Police stated.
