Washington DC news, Washington news.

The White House coronavirus task force has been clear with Americans at a Saturday briefing: They should try as much as they can to avoid getting out, even for shopping or buying medication.

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” Deborah Birx warned. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe.”

On Sunday, the US surgeon general compared the upcoming week as Pearl Harbor and 9/11: “It’s tragically fitting that we’re talking at the beginning of Holy Week because this is going to be the hardest and the saddest week of most Americans’ lives,” Jerome Adams said. “There is hope but we’ve also got to all do our part.”
