Charles County news, Maryland news.

A Maryland man is being held behind bars without bond for repeatedly defying the governor's orders during the last week.

41-year-old Shawn Marshall Myers did not apparently learn from his March 22 arrest when he tried to disperse a crowd at his home as officers responded to a large gathering report. On Friday night, he invited 60 people for a bonfire.

“I cannot begin to express my disgust towards such irresponsible, reckless behavior,” a frustrated Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted in connection with Myers’ arrest. Myers has been charged with failure to comply with an emergency order and was denied bond.

Gov. Hogan had banned gatherings with more than 10 people as a measure to lessen the coronavirus spreading rates.
